I always say I’m not a romantic, but truth be told, I actually am. Yes I baked a loveheart cake for my bf and even surprised him with a soppy card — I can’t help myself be a cutie. But when it comes to horror, I don’t want any of that romance bullshit, I just want something that has an element of love but actually is a bit of an Anti-Valentine’s vibe…

Usually I would be banging on about Nekromantik because it is my favourite extreme horror film and just a story about a complicated love triangle, but this year I’ve opted for something else. For the Ghouls Magazine podcast, I was joined by one of my horror besties & daughters (she calls me her horror mum alongside Rebecca McCallum) and that was the beautiful Liz Bishop.

We got to chat about Australian horror film The Loved Ones, which came out in 2009. This was part of 00s torture porn boom and really looks at female violence and male trauma. Join us as we chat a lot about daddies and incest… Apologies in advance for how wild we are.
