Director: Christopher Nolan
Starring: Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway and Joseph-Gordon Levitt
Rating: 12A

Well, well, well I was looking forward to this film before they had even said they were going to make a third film (it was blatent though) so obviously I had to see it the exact day it came out and I did.

Eight years on from the events in The Dark Knight and Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) is in no state to return as Batman, nor does he have any reason to. Soon enough a new bad guy is on the scene, Bane (Tom Hardy), and his mad plans are about the destroy Gotham. Wayne knows Gotham’s only chance is to bring back Batman. With the help from police officer Blake (Joseph-Gordon Levitt) and Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman), he must save the city from destruction and also avoid the temptress charms of Selina Kyle (Anne Hathaway).

Although I’m slightly biased on what I say about this film (self-confessed Batman nerd) I will try to give an honest and fair opinion. Firstly I must admit that my only qualm with the Batman films is that they are bum-numbingly long to sit through, but they are so worth it.  As usual we get an almost near perfect performance from Christian Bale, but we already knew we would. The story line they used was brilliant, as Nolan couldn’t use The Joker (Heath ledger, The Dark Knight) this worked perfectly as a follow up. Tom Hardy managed to follow up from the marvellous performance by Ledger and create another brilliant baddie.

The only problem I had with the film was who was cast for Catwoman. I’m not dismissing Anne Hathaway as an actress in any way possible, but in my opinion, she didn’t fit the role. I find Hathaway a little too innocent looking to play Catwoman, but then again the character of Catwoman wasn’t as slutty as I’d hoped for (I’m not a pervert!).

All in all, I was so in awe of The Dark Knight Rises the first time I saw it, that I had to go back another couple of times! Even if you’re not a big fan of Batman and haven’t followed the storyline, you should still go see it anyway!

Verdict: 5/5
